Mainstream media is irresponsibly screaming that the interior of BC is off-limits. Social media noise will quickly fade. If we wait until this crisis is a memory to document it, we lose the true story to hindsight.

I spearheaded a natural disaster response in New Zealand years ago. My biggest regret was waiting until it was over to write about it. You can’t capture raw human history in hindsight. The grit, the trauma, and the true voice get lost in the blur. I’m launching this project to ensure the South Okanagan does not lose its history.

I’ll write raw feature stories (800 to 1,600 words), focusing on substance over length, documenting the experiences of our local businesses, artisans, and neighbours as this crisis unfolds.

🏛️ Community Ownership: You collectively own the stories and the fund. A hard-copy archive will be printed and permanently housed in the local museum.
